Technical Designer- Women's Swim

Position Summary: Technical Designer to support the Swim Design Team with strong technical design proficiencies, including knowledge of all areas of technical design in women’s apparel, patternmaking, and garment construction. Under the direction of the Senior Technical Designer, the Technical Designer is responsible to measure garments to align with the design specifications, to attend garment fittings, and to collaborate with vendors. The ideal candidate must have experience in all technical aspects of patterns, fit, and fashion design from development through production to ensure that the garments are developed accurately to brand design aesthetic. Experience with swimwear is a must.

Technical Designer Responsibilities:
• Manage samples and measure incoming garments and review sample details and maintain tracking reports of sample status.
• Assist with fittings and manage all technical requirements to develop and execute processes in product development while maintaining brand aesthetics and fit standards.
• Attend all fittings and manage the fit approval process with the assistance of Senior Technical Designer as needed.
• Develop and edit Tech Packs, documenting fit comments, specifications, and bill of materials and create and maintain written reports and records ,as needed.
• Manage the flow of information related to the fit process such as tracking samples and communicating with vendors and receive samples packages and steam samples, as needed.
• Manage fit and construction approval process with cross-functional partners to meet all deadlines and raise issues to appropriate level for resolution in a timely manner.
• Communicate clear direction to overseas offices and factories to support brand quality and on-time delivery of products.
• Anticipate and resolve technical, fit and quality issues during product development stage.
• Able to multi-task and work in a team environment.

Technical Designer Qualifications:
• Degree in Technical Design or Patternmaking (preferred).
• 3-5 years experience in Technical Design in the apparel industry.
• Strong understanding of fit and patternmaking; women's apparel a plus.
• Knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, fabrications, and trims. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent proficiency in PDM/PLM
