Job description

Fashion Brand is seeking a skilled Fabric Manager/Product Development Manager to support the Product Development team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the creative design team to select fashion-right, price-appropriate materials that align with their vision.
  • Support the fabric sourcing and development process from conception through approval.
  • Maintain a comprehensive fabric and trim library to support the design team.
  • Manage carryover fabrics and trims by keeping physical material records and creating digital records of FDS (Fabric Development Sheets) and testing.
  • Cultivate relationships with brand-right material suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality, price-right materials according to the design calendar.
  • Navigate potential issues related to quality, pricing, lead time or minimums, resolving them effectively while communicating any concerns to cross-functional partners.
  • Ensure all materials meet quality standards for performance metrics, product safety claims, specifications, etc., as per guidance provided.
  • Manage the review and approval process for all fabrics including fabric description sheets, spec reports, and development test reports.
  • Hand off materials to production partners at the end of each development season.
  • Maintain up-to-date seasonal and core Fabric/Trim charts.
  • Consistently update PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) database with accurate material information.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fabric and/or trim sourcing and development.
  • Technical knowledge of materials, including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques. Knowledge of QA testing is a plus.
  • Experience in developing and testing materials with vendors from concept to production.
