Title: Designer - Soft Wovens 
Salary: $85K - $100K
Location: Van Nuys, CA 91411
Well-known contemporary brand is seeking a highly organized and motivated Designer to join our team on a full-time basis in Van Nuys, CA. The ideal candidate will support the Design Director and the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) in daily functions with an emphasis on shepherding products through Design, Development & Production. Designer will report to the Design Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supporting & liaise between CCO, Design Director, the Product Development and Production Teams to ensure all style information is accurately passed off.
  • Receive design direction from Design Director, and at times CCO, thoughtfully working into all seasonal concepts passed and other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct research to identify new fabrics, techniques, trends, and design inspiration + details in line with brand creative direction.
  • Attend and participate in all fittings, giving clear feedback to Tech, Product Development & Production teams on fit, construction and garment components.
  • Ensure flow of information and updates from fittings reach appropriate team members
  • Being mindful of the design/development calendar and helping design stay on calendar, strategize lead times when launching new designs.
  • Create and maintain presentation / design boards for weekly design meetings.
  • Research and sketch into new designs per seasonal direction, following and updating them through the entire development process.
  • Support CAD creation work on print / pattern placement layouts when necessary.
  • Help to co-manage the design assistant and design interns, ensuring that boards, line sheets, decks & pass offs are updated and are being done in a timely manner.
  • Input relevant information/construction details/embroidery placements/etc. within pass offs & tech packs to ensure clear communication to the factory.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in the apparel industry Degree in Apparel or Fashion
  • Experience with CAD and Adobe (Photoshop & Illustrator) software
  • Strong base knowledge of garment fit and construction across categories
  • Strong sketching skills
  • Knowledge of cross functional processes with Product Development, Tech & Production
  • Knowledge of the wash/dye process, embellishments and different fabrics
  • Relevant contemporary experience with an appreciation of fabric and trims
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently at all levels
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Effective time management and ability to stay organized Attention to detail & deadline-oriented
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
